Pouring Vessel 5

Part of the studio’s work is dedicated to expressing ceramic materials. The complexity of minerals undergoing heat stress and lack of oxygen transforms clay and glazes into a realm of limitless appearances. It is dazing to consider the vast compositions made possible by clay’s plasticity as we create an everlasting language of forms. Whether it is a tall pouring vessel, a clay sculpture, or a figurative expression, I intend to shed light on the materials’ story, such as the ash in the glaze, the reduced atmosphere in the kiln, and the heavy iron oxide in the clay. These are significant causes that impact the object, and I believe we should explore these processes to enrich and educate the ceramic language.
