Avocado Grower
This small hand-thrown ceramic bottle is glazed with our wood-ash glaze collection, made from ash gathered from Pacific Northwest trees and transformed into a beautiful surface in a high-fire reduction kiln. Each set comes with two small cups and a sprouted avocado seed.
Originally made for sake, the bottle can also begin another life as a small home for an avocado seed. Fill the bottle with water, place the seed on the opening, and let the root find its way downward. In time, a young avocado plant will rise from the bottle.
I have grown a small forest of avocado plants this way in the studio, and this quiet transformation never stops bringing joy.
Each bottle is unique, carrying the subtle marks of ash, clay, fire, and memories from the forest.
