I called this glaze Forest because it is made from Pacific Northwest wood ash. It’s so satisfying to hold a cup in my hands, glazed with the northwest wood-ash. When you use it you transcend to a world of evergreen woods with a scent of foliage, giving room for the food to be present and for you to pay attention to its quality.

The raised edges allow this plate to be used for a variety of meals. It is able to hold sauces well and is perfect as a pasta plate, and can be used as an all-around dinner plate.

All of my handmade ceramics are one of a kind, with intricate details that make each piece a unique work of art. Each Forest Plate will have a special, unique canvas of color tones. It may range from a shiny finish to a matte look, to a stone-like appearance depending upon where it is placed in the kiln. No two pieces are the same.

Learn how each piece is made in my guide to high-fire ceramics.
